9 yo son watching me scramble some eggs: "So, the white part is the food and the yellow stuff is the chick, right"?
Me: "Right. The albumin and the yolk. The albumin is exactly what the baby is low on right now, and that necessitates all the blood transfusions."
9 yo son: "But how does that gooey white stuff and the yolk form into a chick - I just don't get it. Is that because the rooster sits on the eggs and does something to them?"
Mom: "Yes, it is the same with human babies."
9 yo son: "Huh?!! I've never seen a man sit on a woman's eggs!"
Interjection by my 11 yo old girl (who happens to be studying human anatomy and physiology this year): "Well, I guess Dad did not sit on Emma's egg long enough. She's tiny, out of albumin, and hatched too early."
